Technology and Science

Technical, Computer Advice

DriverFiles.net Searching for a device driver this site will provide a hassle-free experience for all your driver downloads.
WHATIS? Whatis? defines more technical terms than you could ever want the answers to. Whatis? enables you to search for definitions, as well as offering in-depth articles - for example, e-mail for beginners. It also dissects all manner of acronyms and explores the curious but great world of cyberculture, where "stickiness" means a Web site's ability to retain its visitors.

BUILDER.COM Complete resource for building your own Web site.

MODEM HELP Help. For your modem. Whatever make or model.

MR DRIVER Put an end to your hardware horror and keep your system up to date with the latest drivers.

T3 - TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN Fondle shiny objects of desire on the excellent T3 site. Virutally, of course.

TOM's HARDWARE GUIDE If it has to do with hardware, this is the place to go.

TUCOWS An excellent file site that reviews and rates programs to avoid download disappointment.

VERSIONS Keep track of updates and new versions of your favourite software.

WEB NOVICE Get to grips with the Internet - the plain-speaking guide reveals all.

WIRED The top technology site everyone should have bookmarked.

Onlinesupport  This site is provided and maintained by Microsoft and perhaps unsurprisingly deals almost exclusively with their own products. It's straightforward to use, select the product name followed by search type and then just type in a question in plain English

General Science

How Stuff Works  How Stuff Works is a great place to come to learn about how things work in the world around you. Have you ever wondered how the engine in your car works, or what gears do, or what makes the inside of your refrigerator cold? How Stuff Works tells all. A new article gets added every week, and you can sign up for the HSW Newsletter to get the latest news.

The National Museum of Science and Industry  There's as much attention to detail here as in the museum's exhibits. Links to the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television and the National Railway Museum too.

NASA One of the most fascinating aspects of applied science is space exploration. This is real science in action and since NASA is the only organisation really involved in it, there is only one place to go. Lots of resources about planets, moons and more.

Natural History Museum There are lots of museums with websites but this is a fun one to visit should you be interested in the animal kingdom. There are descriptions of all the exhibitions you can see in the actual museum as well as some interesting features, including an interactive exploration of a skull which was believed to be from the beast of Bodmin Moor.

History of the World It's easier to use this site than to describe it. The information provided here actually forms a historical encyclopedia that's organised in various timeline-like ways, focusing on events and significant people, and with hypertext jumps to relevant maps and background text. It's fascinating, visually rich, and gives you some new perspectives on how we moved from then to now.

The Yuckiest site on the Internet This site is thoroughly horrible but highly educational, 'Kids' will love it. Just don't expect to come out without getting your hands dirty.
