Centre for Independent Living (SCIL)

The Southwark Resource Centre will shortly be hosting its official opening ceremony, almost a year after completion and following a lengthy settling in process. Right now a user group is meeting regularly to explore ideas and ways of attracting more people to become involved in shaping future services. The meetings have so far drawn up an extensive list of activities generated by disabled people themselves.

Limitless horizons

Are you bored?

Lacking motivation or self confidence?

Could you get out of the house and meet likeminded people?

Want to try something new but not sure what’s out there?

If you have answered yes to any of the above then Personal Development is for you. All you have to do is pick up the phone and contact Malvina Edwards. Who is Malvina you may ask? Well I am the Personal Development Officer at SDA, here to support you to explore your talents, develop your skills, give you information on events taking place in London and support you to access and participate in social activities.

I have started a Social Group called Limitless and we would like to increase our membership. We are looking for fun, inspiring, talented and exciting disabled adults living or working in Southwark who want to socialise, get involved in fundraising, event planning and changing negative perceptions of disabled people. Could this be you?

The current members of Limitless are planning to hold an art exhibition at the end of the summer to showcase the talents of disabled people and show that we all have something to contribute to society. This event will be held in conjunction with the Southwark Centre for Independent Living (SCIL).

Limitless meet every 4 weeks at the Southwark Resource Centre, 10 Bradenham Close, our next meeting is on the 17th February 2012 at 1.30pm.

If this sounds interesting, don’t be alone pick up the phone 020 7701 1391 and ask for Malvina.
